EKU Among Top 10 Best Online Colleges for Child Development Programs
EKU’s online degree programs covering early childhood development and family studies are among the best for affordability and return on investment according to SR Education Group. Eastern Kentucky University was named in the Top 10 on two of the organization’s lists for Best Online Colleges. EKU was also named among the Top 20 Most Affordable Online Colleges.

SR Education Group compared schools using data from the National Center for Education Statistics. To qualify, schools were required to be regionally accredited and have little or no mandatory on-campus instruction within their online degree programs. To identify the best online colleges for child and family professionals, the organization measured return on investment by using PayScale to review salary information shared anonymously by alumni.
Eastern offers several accredited, online programs for those interested in working in childhood development or early childhood education. There are no required campus visits. The EKU Online Child and Family Studies programs include a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in child and family studies; a certificate in infant and toddler care and education; or a certificate program for those interested in becoming an early childhood director. Courses count toward the Child Development Associate (CDA) and may also count toward state credentials. The EKU Psychology program offers a fully online bachelor’s degree with a concentration in child and family psychology.
One of the most unique features of EKU Online degree programs is that advisors work closely with students from application through graduation. They create personalized graduation plans for each individual. Terms are just eight weeks long, which gives students the ability to focus on one or two classes at a time and still remain eligible for financial aid.
